Young agricultural entrepreneurs across Nigeria now have the opportunity to apply for a grant by the British American Tobacco Nigerian Foundation (BATNF). This Farmers for the Future (F4F) Grant is to provide equity-free capital and resources that would help these farmers scale viable agri-businesses.

In partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the Farmers for the Future Grant targets current NYSC members. This initiative which is implemented by Fate Foundation aligns with BATNF’s mission to encourage and support youth involvement in sustainable agriculture.

Access to Finance

The top 6 finalists will receive equity-free grants totaling NGN 10 million, distributed as follows:

  • 1st Prize: ₦3 million
  • 2nd Prize: ₦2 million
  • 3rd Prize: ₦1 million

In addition, winners will benefit from:

  • Connections to financial institutions and investors for future funding and credit opportunities.
  • Technical support for the establishment and growth of their agribusinesses.

Training & Capacity Building

Participants will gain:

  • An intensive “Think-through-your-business” bootcamp.
  • Mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and agricultural experts.
  • Membership in the F4F alumni network.
  • Participation in other training programs driven by partners.
  • Assistance with business registration and meeting legal and regulatory requirements.

Stages of Competition

  1. Application Submission: Submit your application through the online portal.
  2. Virtual Bootcamp: 20 selected businesses will undergo a rigorous virtual bootcamp to refine their business ideas and perfect their pitches.
  3. Pitch Event & Award: The top 10 businesses from the bootcamp will pitch to a panel of expert judges and investors, with 3 winners selected.
  4. Mentorship: The 3 winners will receive funding to scale their businesses, supported by experienced mentors and connected to relevant networks.
  5. Join the Farmers for the Future Alumni: Winners will continue to access mentorship, insider opportunities, and networking support for further financing and market expansion.
