World Bank Group Young Professionals Program (YPP)

There is an exciting opportunity for Young Professionals (YPs) across the world from the World Bank. These YPs should have exceptional technical expertise, leadership potential, and a strong commitment to the mission and values of the World Bank Group.

These YPs will be recruited as Associate Investment Officers, Technical Specialists, and Economists on an initial five-year contract. This contract can be renewed based on the performance of the YPs. During the first two years, YPs have can improve their skills through rotational assignments various departments within the World Bank Group.

During this program, YPs would also participate in the YP Academy where they’ll be offered a structured learning journey. Some of the key components they’ll enjoy include training in technical and operational skills, business and negotiation skills, language programs, and leadership development. They’ll also receive mentorship, personalized coaching and participate in strategy dialogues with senior leadership.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be born on or after October 1, 1992.
  • Nationality: Must hold citizenship of a World Bank Group member country, verified by an official passport or equivalent document.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of four years of full-time work experience after completing undergraduate studies (relevant doctoral studies and internships may count toward this requirement).
  • Educational Background: Must have completed a master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field by September 1, 2025. For those pursuing a doctorate, relevant full-time doctoral research will be considered as work experience, and all written work must be completed before September 1, 2025.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent command of spoken and written English (fluency in additional languages may be an asset).
  • Employment Status: Must not be a current World Bank Group staff member, and must not be precluded from applying by the World Bank’s employment eligibility policy.

How to Apply

  • Work Program Selection: Applicants must choose a work program that aligns with their skills and experience. YPs typically join in roles such as Associate Investment Officers (IFC), Underwriters/Economists/Technical Specialists (MIGA), or Technical Specialists/Economists (IBRD).
  • Demonstrate Expertise: Applicants are expected to showcase both their technical depth (specialized expertise) and technical breadth (ability to work across different sectors and departments), along with strong leadership potential.
