Global Futures Scholarship for Masters Program

The University of Manchester is offering over 230 merit-based Global Futures Scholarships to international postgraduate students. For African students, the scholarship is valued at £15,000, which will be applied as a discount on overseas tuition fees.

Eligible Countries

Students must be domiciled in Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, or Zimbabwe to apply. The country of domicile is where the applicant has lived for the past three years, excluding time spent studying abroad.

Award Details

  • Scholarships of £15,000 will be awarded based on academic excellence and the strength of the online application.
  • The Global Futures scholarship award will be applied as a tuition fee discount.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold an unconditional offer to study a full-time, on-campus master’s course at The University of Manchester starting in September 2025.
  • They must submit a scholarship application form by 24 April 2025. The Global Futures Scholarship application form will only be available to eligible offer-holders.
  • Applicants must be self-funded and not sponsored.
  • The scholarship is not open to applicants for certain programs, including MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (March), Clinical Medicine, Dentistry, and other specific courses. Those who have studied a Bachelor’s degree outside of Africa are also ineligible.
  • Applicants for blended or distance learning programs are not eligible.

How to Apply

  • Hold an unconditional offer for a master’s program by 24 April 2025.
  • Submit the Global Futures scholarship application form by the same date.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by 30 May 2025.
