Commonwealth Distance Learning Masters Scholarships 2024/2025

The Commonwealth Distance Learning Masters Scholarships are opened to applicants from the Commonwealth developing countries. The program is one of three Master’s initiatives by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission. Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), these scholarships aim to facilitate access to training and skills required for sustainable development, not available in the applicants’ home countries.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be:

  • A citizen or have been granted refugee status granted by an eligible Commonwealth country, or a British Protected Person.
  • A permanent resident in a developing Commonwealth country.
  • Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard. A lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience may be considered in certain cases.
  • Unable to afford to study the program without this scholarship.

Benefits

A Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship covers tuition fees and study grants where required. Other scholarships, awards, or bursaries covering the same costs may not be held concurrently.

Selection Process

Each participating UK University conducts its recruitment process to select applicants. The CSC confirms eligibility, and universities notify results to applicants in July 2024.

How to Apply

Applications must be made through the CSC’s online application system. The deadline is March 28, 2024, 16:00 GMT. The scholarships are for study beginning in September/October 2024. Applicants must apply and secure admission to study an approved Master’s course at a participating UK university in addition to applying for the scholarship via the CSC’s online application system.

Edinburgh Global Undergraduate Mathematics Scholarship 2024

The Edinburgh Global Undergraduate Mathematics Scholarships is designed for international applicants who exhibit exceptional academic performance. The University of Edinburgh is offering a number of scholarships to applicants demonstrating the highest levels of academic achievement. Each scholarship is valued at £5,000 which will be directly disbursed to students in installments to contribute to living costs. These scholarships are applicable throughout the entire duration of the study program, contingent upon satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The scholarships are open to applicants with International fee status who are accepted for full-time admission to an undergraduate degree program hosted in the School of Mathematics at the University.
  • Not available to students already enrolled in a program or studying Mathematics as part of a degree hosted by another School within the University.
  • Applicants should have applied to the University of Edinburgh through the University and College Admissions Service (UCAS), but an offer is not required to initiate the scholarship application process.

Australia Awards Scholarships 2025 (Fully Funded)

Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international awards offered by the Australian Government to emerging global leaders in developing countries. The scholarships aim to provide recipients with the skills and knowledge to drive positive change and foster enduring connections with Australia. Applicants are assessed on their personal and professional, academic competence, and majorly, their impact on development changes in eligible countries. Applications are strongly encouraged from women, people with disability and other marginalized groups.

Priority Fields of Study

The priority areas of study for eligible African countries in this application round include:

Level of Study

Australia Awards scholarships provide citizens of eligible African countries with the opportunity to pursue a Master’s qualification at an Australian tertiary institution. In addition, these awards will be offered for commencement in 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants from eligible African countries must meet specific conditions, including:

  • Be a minimum of 25 years old by 1 February 2025.
  • Have at least 5 years of post-graduate work experience, working in a field relative to their field of study.
  • Be a citizen of Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia or Zimbabwe and be residing in and applying for the scholarship from their country of citizenship, unless working for an African Regional Organization or working on diplomatic mission for their home country.

University of Bonn SDG Fellowships 2024: Call for Applications

The University of Bonn invites scholars, preferably from Africa, Latin America, and South/East Asia, to apply for the 2024 SDG Fellowships. This fellowship program aims to facilitate joint research projects on topics related to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as outlined in the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. Tenured faculty members (professors) at the University of Bonn can host international postdoctoral fellows for collaborative research and teaching for periods ranging from 3 to 12 months.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Post-doctoral researchers with foreign citizenship invited by a full-time professor at the University of Bonn for joint research.
  • Fellows should have a long-term affiliation beyond the fellowship with a university or research institute in Africa, Latin America, or South/East Asia, demonstrating expertise in an SDG-related research area.

Funding

The fellowship provides financial support for the following:

  • A travel allowance (dependent on the country of origin)
  • A monthly scholarship of €3,000
  • Additional funds for family members (up to €300 for a spouse and €250 per child)
  • A research expense allowance of up to €500 per month

Role and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the weekly team meeting and ensuring there is a compelling agenda and capture of takeaways. Follow up with team members to ensure identified next steps are actioned
  • Updating and maintaining internal documents and processes (Box Folder, C4C events calendar, organizational chart etc.)
  • Providing ad-hoc support for Project teams including on initiatives and virtual meetings
