Speculative fiction writers from underrepresented and underprivileged groups, the Diverse Writers Grant is intended to offer you an opportunity to invest in your writing. Individuals from these groups include writers of color, women, queer writers, and disabled writers, whose marginalized identities may present additional obstacles in the writing and publishing process.

The Speculative Literature Foundation does not expect or want works that simply attempts to check off all the boxes in a tokenistic way, but rather are looking for writing that offers deep characterization, complex cultural landscapes, and strong literary quality overall. This grant, as with all SLF grants, is intended to help writers working with speculative literature.

  • This grant is open to all levels of publishing experience, worldwide.
  • The grant jury will be primarily English-reading, although works that incorporate other languages (as in Keri Hulme’s the Bone People’s use of Maori) are welcome.

  • A written description of the project: This description should not exceed 500 words.

The UWC Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is specifically targeted towards young Africans whose access to higher education is impeded by economic and social barriers. The University of Western Cape (UWC) is an implementing partner of the Mastercard Foundations Scholars Program designed to equip youth with the necessary tools and education to drive transformative change which will positively impact their communities and countries.

Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program (2026)

Students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and creativity in their schools, the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship Program is available for you. The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding students across the world, including international students studying at Canadian high schools. This is U of T’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship for international students.

Writers who desire to focus on their craft for a while and use the opportunity to connect with fellow writers, the Ken-Saro Wiwa International Writers’ Residency Programme is that opportunity for you. The Association of Nigerian Authors is inviting you to apply for this unique opportunity.

The Residency Programme provides a unique opportunity for creative writers in Africa to complete a literary manuscript at the state-of-the-art Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village and Resort; located on the scenic Maitama Extension along Mpape Road, Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.

It aims to foster excellence, creativity, and cross-cultural exchange among participants. The Ken-Saro Wiwa International Writers’ Residency Programme also seeks to facilitate mentorship by bringing together established and emerging writers from diverse backgrounds across Africa to share their experiences, develop their craft, and contribute to the development of the continent’s literary landscape.

Funding Information

  • N15,000/Resident per week for the four weeks.
  • Two extra weeks at the Resident’s personal expense.
  • N100,000 lump sum transportation fare for local residents and N200,000 for international residents.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants of the Ken-Saro Wiwa International Writers’ Residency Programme must be practising creative writers based in Africa and currently working in the following literary genres: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Literary Criticism.

As a Senior Community Grants Support and Performance Officer, you will be providing effective operational support and performance management of the Community Grants Programme, working closely with the Community Engagement Grants Manager. This includes leading on the day-to-day operations of the programme, alongside overseeing and implementing clear, effective processes to manage the programme and impact. You will need to be highly organised and proactive and possess excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Role of the Senior Community Grants Support & Performance Officer

In this role, you will be responsible for increasing understanding, supporting behaviour change and growing and diversifying the blood, deceased organ and living kidney donor base through effective operational and performance management of the Community Grants Programme. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the operational and performance management of a crucial programme, delivering clear outcomes against our key strategic priorities.
  • Responsible for overseeing and implementing robust grant management and evaluation processes and systems across the end-to-end grant process
  • Support the delivery of the Community Grants Programme within the Donor Experience directorate.
  • Lead on key functions of the programme throughout the end-to-end grant process, whilst also managing the day-to-day operational effectiveness of the programme.
  • Lead on managing multiple external relationships; providing effective project advisory support to external funded partners, and a grant management agency to ensure optimal grant activities.
