Foreigners who wish to pursue master’s studies in Colombia, the Colombia Foreign Scholarship is an opportunity for you to get free access to their education. The scholarship is also available to foreigners from non-Spanish speaking countries who need to strengthen the Spanish language to carry out their postgraduate studies in Colombia.

ICETEX is an Institution of the Colombia State that promotes Higher Education by granting educational credits and international cooperation scholarships to students with lower economic backgrounds and good academic performance. They offer economic aid to foreign citizens within the framework of the Strategy of Reciprocity for foreigners and its program, Beca Colombia.

Requirements

To be eligible for the Colombia Foreign Scholarship, you must:

• Be a foreign citizen
• Not have Colombia nationality
• Not be residing, nor have resided in the last 6 months prior to applying for the scholarship in Colombian territory or have started studies in Colombia at the time of application to the corresponding call.
• Not have any marital or de facto relationship in Colombia
• Not have been a beneficiary of ICETEX through the Beca Colombia program
• Not be older than 50 years
• Have a cumulative general average of 4.0 out of 5.0 in undergraduate to apply the call.
• According to the
  grading scale of each country, the note must be equivalent to a minimum of 4.0 for the Colombian scale.
• Have a professional, undergraduate, or graduate degree in any area of knowledge.
• Have admission to at least between one and three postgraduate programs found in the Academic Offer
  Catalog 2025-2 attached to this announcement.
• Have good physical and mental health, certified by a doctor.

Benefits

1. Tuition: The Higher Education Institutions will offer 100% of the tuition fee for the duration of the academic program.
2. Health Insurance: Medical and hospital assistance in Colombia that include repatriation in case of disability or death.
3. Monthly stipend: ICETEX will support each foreign scholarship recipient with a monthly stipend of three minimum wages.
4. Courtesy Visa: ICETEX will send letters to Colombia consulates abroad for the issuance of the courtesy Visa type “V” (visitor).
5. Foreigner Identification: This is a financial support equivalent to 250,000 COP, which will be paid only once during the entire study program to cover costs related to the issuance of the immigration card. It will be granted during the first disbursement.
