Story Production Grants for Jornalists by MFWA

Journalists who are interested in a grant to produce in-depth stories on pressing issues in West Africa, the Story Production Grants by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is specifically designed to support you. The pressing issues can cover topics on democracy, governance, human rights, and social justice. Selected journalists will be given financial support to cover costs associated with story production, including travel, research, and reporting.

The Story Production Grants is designed to empower media professionals to enhance investigative journalism and promote accountability in society. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to work on impactful stories that contribute to informed public discourse.

The Story Production Grants form  part of the support being extended to journalists in four target countries (Benin, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo) to produce impactful stories under the second phase of its Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Journalism Fellowship. The application is open to all journalists in the four countries, including the current DPI Fellows, DPI Journalism Fellowship Alumni and all journalists irrespective of media genre.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to professional journalists and media practitioners
• Applicants must be affiliated with recognized media organizations or work as independent journalists.
• Applicants are accepted from individuals based in the four eligible countries.
• Strong preference for applicants with a track record of producing investigative reports.
