The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship brings together outstanding individuals from diverse fields and backgrounds who share a commitment to creating a better Canada and world. This scholarship offers more than financial support—it fosters a transformative community experience.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicants must:

• Be in the process of completing a Master’s program (completed no later than summer 2025)
• Be in the first year of a doctoral program
• Be in your second year of a doctoral program

2. The field of study should broadly fall within the humanities, social sciences, or human sciences, and be directly relevant to the future of Canada.

3. The doctoral research must align with at least one of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s four central themes:

• Human Rights and Dignity
• Responsible Citizenship
• Canada and the World
• People and Their Natural Environment

4. Applicants must be either:

• Canadian citizens enrolled at a Canadian or international institution.
• Permanent residents of Canada or foreign nationals enrolled in a doctoral program at a Canadian institution.

Application Process

1. Register for an Account: Once the competition opens, applicants must register through the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s application portal. If you’ve applied previously, use the same email and select “Forgot password” to reset it.

2. Complete the Application: After registration, answer the required questions to submit your application for the 2025 Scholarship Competition.

Timeline

• September 9, 2024, 9:00 a.m. EST: Application period opens.
• November 20, 2024: Deadline for submitting references.
• November 25, 2024, 4:00 p.m. EST: Application deadline to submit directly to the Foundation.
• January 27, 2025: Semi-finalists invited for Round One group interviews.
• February 10-12, 2025: Round One – Virtual group interviews and information sessions with semi-finalists.
• February 19, 2025: Finalists invited for Round Two individual interviews.
• March 10-12, 2025: Round Two – Final interviews with the Selection Committee.
• May 2025: Official announcement of the 2025 Scholars.
