University of Georgia Masters Scholarship (Fully-Funded)

The Department of Geology, part of the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences at UGA, seeks to recruit one MS student to join Dr. Adam Milewski’s research group (Water Resources & Remote Sensing Laboratory) for Spring 2025.
The successful candidate will contribute to developing a machine learning model for coastal Georgia. This project will focus on identifying and characterizing the processes and variables that control groundwater level fluctuations in coastal settings.

Research Focus
The primary research responsibilities will include:
- Developing and applying a machine learning model to predict groundwater level fluctuations in coastal Georgia.
- Identifying and characterizing the processes and variables that control these fluctuations.
- Predicting groundwater level changes in areas with inadequate monitoring data.
- Evaluating these predictions using existing in situ observations and a hydrodynamic model.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the University of Georgia Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a BS in geology, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
- Have a strong interest in sustainable water resource use and data science.
- Be willing to engage in interdisciplinary research extending beyond traditional geology boundaries.
- Be fluent in English, both oral and written.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship includes:
- A graduate research assistantship stipend worth $24,000 per year.
