Program Details

The JournalismAI Academy for Small Newsrooms spans 8 weeks, commencing in September, 2024. It caters specifically to journalists and media professionals working in small newsrooms with fewer than 50 employees. Participants must be fluent in English. The 2024 cohort will select 20 participants from Sub-Saharan Africa, including Central, East, Southern, and West Africa, covering time zones from GMT-1 to GMT+4.

Eligibility and Requirements

Who Should Apply:

  • Professionals currently engaged in small newsrooms.
  • Individuals with a foundational understanding of AI and machine learning, actively exploring their application in journalism.
  • Candidates capable of influencing strategic AI adoption within their organizations to address journalistic challenges.

Who Should Not Apply:

  • Freelancers.
  • Journalists based outside the Sub-Saharan Africa region.
  • Non-English speakers.
