BRACE Capacity Development Program for Young Agripreneurs

Young Agripreneurs in Africa who are in need of support in your agricultural businesses, the BRACE Capacity Development Program has been curated for you. It is an African Food Changemakers program whereby SMEs like yours are trained on the impacts of climate change on your businesses. You would be equipped with strategies to adapt and mitigate these effects.

Through the BRACE Capacity Development program, you are able to adopt climate-smart practices to your business and gain access to climate financing opportunities. Through a hybrid learning experience, you would be get the opportunity to be trained, learn with your peers, have interactive sessions, and apply what you’ve learnt practically.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: 18 – 40 years
  • Business: Must be a registered and operating agribusiness
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of an African country
  • Role: Must be an owner, representative, or decision-maker in an agri-SME operating in the Crop Production or Animal Production sector as a producer, processor, marketer, or aggregator

Program Components / Benefits

  • Diagnostic Tool Deployment: Assess participants’ awareness of climate change impacts on their agribusinesses, and their readiness to deploy local solutions.
  • Practical Assignments: Engage in hands-on tasks to ‘green’ their agribusinesses, positioning them to leverage climate financing opportunities.
  • Online Learning: A self-paced, six-week online BRACE Capacity Development program with a practical climate curriculum.
  • Peer Learning and Networking: Participate in peer-to-peer learning, networking, experience sharing, group discussions, and solution co-creation.
  • Access to Experts: Interact with industry experts, trainers, and fellow agripreneurs through live interactive and mentoring sessions.
  • Resources and Tools: Gain access to information, resources, and tools to make sustainable climate-related investment decisions.
  • Community Membership: Join the AFC hub community for additional resources, data, funding support, and market linkages to boost business visibility, profitability, growth, and success.

Time Commitment

  • Interactive Sessions: Attend weekly live sessions scheduled for Thursday or Friday evenings across African time zones.
  • Online Modules: Complete self-paced online modules over six weeks.
  • Assignments: Submit all course assignments and tasks online.
  • Weekly Commitment: Dedicate a minimum of four hours per week to complete the modules and assignments.
